Project A6 - Brain-inspired multimodal deep learning

In project A6 deep neural networks will be extended with additional crossmodal learning mechanisms found in the brain. One such extension planned for the project is the inclusion of recurrent connections between hierarchical areas of the network that represent different modalities. The primary goals are both to improve performance in machine learning and also to study the computational principles of the brain, particularly its mechanisms of crossmodal learning, integration and representation.
