Project C2 - Crossmodal learning of language – mechanisms and facilitation
PIs: Prof. Dr. Andreas Engel, Prof. Dr. Gui Xue
The focus of project C2 is the crossmodal learning of phonology, i.e., the mapping from visual symbols to auditory sounds. The project will use fMRI and EEG to characterize the neural mechanisms of phonology learning. The goal is not just to understand the fundamental neural and cognitive mechanisms involved in learning to read a second language, but also to use this understanding to facilitate such learning. To this end, the project will employ BCI and NIBS to improve the efficiency of phonological training in humans.
